Bending Simulation Overview

Smap3D Bending Simulation is an application that allows to simulate bent pipes and the possibility to manufacture them using a bending machine. Bending Simulation reads bent pipes (straight pipes, shape pipes and fittings are ignored) from the 3D assembly opened in CAD and checks if the pipes can be processed by a bending machine and produces summary report of found issues.

It is possible to run a visual simulation for each single pipe shown in this report to see in 3D the bending process and the reported problem, such as collision with the floor or the bending machine itself.

Smap3D Bending Simulation has several bending machines implemented and chooses automatically which one to use for a simulation. This decision is based on pipe parameters – bend radius, pipe diameter etc.

Smap3D Bending Simulation has been created using third party product Bending Checker created by TRACTO-TECHNIK GmbH & Co. KG and uses PCF file format for data transfer between the two parts of the application.
